Memoir and Journal - from the heart of South Africa written by American born, Gail Masondo, chronicaling her journey "home" through the hills and valleys of a life well-lived......plus a bookmark embroidered and beaded by rural Swazi women - unique, a keepsake to treasure.
The title of the book is embroidered on the bookmark along with a scene from the cover illustration.
The bookmark is handcrafted by the rural women of Litsemba. see below.
"Litsemba, meaning “hope” is a social business founded in 2006 as a faith based social enterprise to support rural women in Swaziland through the production and sale of hand-embroidered craft. There are approximately 120 rural women from five communities in eastern Swaziland which include Ngomane, Lusoti, Matsetsa, Ngomane and Mpaka. The artisans embroider at home and sell finished embroidered blocks to Litsemba which are then assembled into various products including bookmarks, handbags, table runners, cushion covers and quilts. The ability to work from home is ideal for the artisans as this enables them to tend to their fields, look after their children run their households whilst earning an income. All the products are made by hand."
